I walk you through my experience visiting the Merkur booth at the ICE Barcelona 2026 event, where the new Dimension Link Jackpot featured.
Merkur has spent the last few days showcasing the Merkur World at one of the most prestigious online gambling events, ICE Barcelona (formerly ICE London).
The software provider setup a two-story exhibition where it flaunted it land-based and online gaming prowess in what the game developer dubbed the ‘Immersive Merkur World’.
I had the pleasure of visiting the stand, and while I was there, I dabbled in some of the snacks on offer, which, as the staff mentioned, were a mix of Slovenian and Spanish delicacies.
There were also some excellent tunes being pumped out by a DJ, but the music wasn’t what I was there for. As a UK and Canadian land-based and online casino gambler, I was looking to see if I could fish out anything new coming to the brand’s gaming collection.
What a cough my eye was, the brand new Dimension Link jackpot machine, which is part of the Merkur land-based collection. Next time I am in the UK, I’ll certainly be looking out for this game in Merkur slots, and possibly it might be available in my favourite land-based casino – The Hippodrome.
As for ICE Barcelona, it was also as impressive as the event coordinators make it out to be. According to the states, the event was expected to attract 65,000 attendees over 3 days (from 19 to 21 January 2026) and to draw visitors from over 186 countries to wander the exhibition space of 100,000 SQM.
What is the Immersive Merkur World?
Well, when you walk into the Merkur stand, the brand sucks you in with its world of land-based and online gambling. Even though I try to think I am immune to advertising, just stepping into the Merkur stand got me. It was so well laid out with gaming machines, flashing LEDs, food, and flashing screens. It was like stepping into another dimension, which is why the brand clearly calls it the Immersive Merkur World. In short, I was immersed in the brand gaming tech and the games themselves.
The game that caught my attention the most was the new Dimesion Link Jackpot.
What is the Dimension Link Jackpot?
Featuring within the Merkur ICE Barcelona booth was its six-Level jackpot system, called Dimension Link. For those of you who don’t know, Merkur supplies the land-based industry with gaming cabinets. I’ve personally seen Merkur slot shops and have visited one in Maidstone, Kent, a few times.
The Dimension Link jackpot is part of the software provider’s land-based gaming systems. The game is set in Egypt, taking players on yet another mythical journey on a theme that has proved popular in both online and land-based casino gaming. You only need to visit Las Vegas, the gambling capital of the world, where the Luxor Hotel & Casino is an Egyptian-themed land-based casino featuring a model of the Great Sphinx of Giza that stands 20 meters high!
However, it wasn’t the video slot itself that was the highlight, but rather the fact that Merkur will soon introduce the new Dimension Link to land-based venues. Quite when or where, I don’t know yet.
Mod Ex Video Slot Cabinet and Table Games
As Merkur produces gaming cabinets, it is only natural for the brand to showcase its brand new upgraded version of the Mod Ex cabinet. Games featured on this machine include Glory of Giza, Wild Temple, Big Catch Bass Fishing, Puzzle Time, Lava Rock and Eternal Riches.
On top of the gaming machines on display, there were also some impressive table gaming machines, which I have seen similar models at land-based venues around the world. Automated roulette machines made up the bulk of the product line, especially electronic table game (ETG) solutions, which offer various ways to play roulette, progressive jackpot systems, and past-coup history data.
It felt like I was visiting the outer rims of a land-based casino, where you’ll usually find most of the ETG machines with low-stakes bets.
My Overall Impression
The entire Merkur brand was impressive and one of the best at the ICE Barcelona event. However, I didn’t find out much about the online gambling side of the business. The stand was mainly geared toward land-based gambling, which, for me, is fine as I like to play video slots online and offline. Either way, I still enjoyed my visit to the booth, which was well worth my while. So much so that this is the one that stood out to me and is the one I am writing about. However, when more news is published by software providers who also had exhibitions at ICE Barcelona 2026, I’ll report on their take and mine.
Booths I visited included BGaming, Playtech, Play’n GO, Pragmatic Play, and the Evolution Gaming stand, where NetEnt, Red Tiger, Big Time Gaming, Ezugi, Nolimit City and Sneaky Slots were also showcased.
