A full decade after its January 2016 debut, Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead remains one of Play’n GO’s most played slots. To mark 10 years of adventure, the studio has launched ‘The Rich is Back' campaign, headlined by the release of the Book of Dead GO Collect slot.

The Franchise That Refuses to Stand Still

The numbers speak for themselves. Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead stands as one of the most played and most successful online slots ever released. Over the past decade, it has also spawned a hugely popular franchise spanning nearly 20 titles.

Marking that anniversary, Play'n GO has released an updated version of the slot, Book of Dead GO. It comes packed with new features to accompany the random expanding symbol and wild/scatter features that made the original so popular.

A New Egyptian Saga

To be honest, we wouldn't expect anything different to mark a milestone for such a good slot. Play'n GO has just released Book of Dead GO Collect, which pays homage to the original while also coming with some fresh new bonus additions on top. The design, reel format and paylines are the same, and yet again we follow Rich Wilde as he takes a treacherous journey through a tomb on the hunt for the Book of Dead.

Wilde's escapades have this time brought him to a sunken temple buried beneath the sands, where dangers and riches in equal measure lurk behind every corner.

How the Gameplay Has Changed

If you're a true fan of the original Book of Dead slot like we are at Casinoplusbonus, you'll appreciate the big nods to the original in this release. We have the original 5×3 reel configuration with 10 paylines, and the dual Scatter/wild symbol is back again. Arguably more iconic is the return of a randomly chosen expanding symbol that can appear during the free spins bonus. It expands and pays even if matching symbols are not on adjacent reels.

As for additions, there's now a GO Collect Hold & Win bonus game, which gives you three respins to collect cash prizes of between 1x and 5x the stake or the Mini (10x), Minor (20x), Major (100x) and Grand (500x) fixed jackpots.

The respins reset whenever a new symbol lands, and you're paid out everything you collected once the counter reaches zero. Adding to that, there's now an optional Treasure Gamble feature you can use to boost base game wins by up to four times.

What the Numbers Say

Book of Dead GO Collect carries the same top 96.2% RTP of the original, but as that return is variable, the actual return to player you'll receive is dependent on the casino you're playing at. There are versions of the slot with 94.2%, 91.2%, 87.2% or 84.2%, so keep that in mind. The maximum win is capped at 10,000x the stake, which is double the amount possible on the original.

Where to Find It: Our Play'n Go casinos page lists numerous sites we've reviewed and rated that feature Book of Dead GO Collect. Furthermore, if you want to play the slot without risk, you can spin up the demo version we've provided a link to in this post.

Meet the Family

Whether you're new to Rich Wilde slots or you're a long-time fan that has had his love for the series rekindled due to Play'n GO's The Rich is Back campaign, we've provided the demos to some key titles. Of course, we start with the original Book of Dead, but also introduce you to the explorer's family, daughter Cat, and uncle Gerard.

Casinoplusbonus Opinion

Book of Dead is one of those slots that, even if you're not a fan, you have to respect the success it continues to enjoy to this day. Despite launching a decade ago, we're still finding new online casino bonuses handing out Book of Dead free spins to this day, which just shows you how popular it remains.

Personally, and I suspect I'm not alone, the influx of ‘Book of' slots trying to replicate the success of Play'n GO's release put me off for a while. I would have been happy to never play a book slot again, as they're all essentially copycats. However, with the release of Book of Dead GO Collect, I think it might be time for me to jump back in for some longer sessions to see if I can rekindle the love.
